Pastor Risarg "Reggie" Huff
Elder Risarg Huff is a native Detroiter who was educated in the Detroit Public Schools system. He has a Bachelors degree from the University of Michigan and a Masters degree in Social Work from Wayne State University. Elder Huff has over twenty-five years of service in our community. He has worked in foster care, served as Vice-President of Administration at the Detroit Urban League, Deputy Director of the Franklin-Wright Settlements and as the Executive Director of Franklin-Wright. He is currently teaching at Wayne State University and working with the Neighborhood Services Organization as the Director of Performance Improvement and as the Corporate Compliance Officer.
In 1988 Elder Huff accepted the call into ministry being licensed by the late Bishop C.L. Anderson Jr. of the Great Lakes Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God In Christ. He was ordained into the ministry in 1991 by Bishop Anderson.
In 1997 Elder Huff was called by the Lord to start his own ministry as the pastor of the Shekinah Tabernacle Gospel Church. The mission of the church reflects Pastor Huff’s experience and faith. The mission statement reads as follows: “To be effective Christians in the community as Disciples of Christ.”
Under Pastor Huff’s leadership and by the grace of God, STGC has prospered in its present location; however Pastor Huff believes that there is even more for the church to do in helping to make the community a better place for everyone. Currently the church is involved in a number of community efforts to improve the community, most notably the Skillman Foundation’s Neighborhood Initiative in the Cody/Rouge community area. |
